I bought the well grounded rubyist (black) and it is really fun to read. Mr. Black is great at explaining things and answering questions when need be.

I'm going through Ruby on Rails Bible, which I borrowed from the Library. It's great at explaining the details, but nearly 70% of the tasks it gets you to do, have bugs in the code.

Which is good if you really want to learn and play around with. Except that I run a tight schedule, and I don't have the time to sit around and look for where the author went wrong. It's extremely frustrating and not helpful for new developers. I was even thinking of buying the book... I'll obviously think again!

It will be interesting to see how many of these books actually come out on time, and which if any don't even come out at all.

There were a couple of books from Apress that were Rails related and got all listing information about them removed the month they were supposed to come out after being listed on the Apress website for months. Those books were "Scaling Rails" and a book on TDD with Ruby on Rails by Joe O'Brien.

I'm sure there are reasons that books don't actually get published and the book market isn't the most lucrative industry, but it really sucks to get excited about a book coming out and then wait forever for nothing.

Supposedly, Robby Russell is writing a book for O'Reilly called "Programming Rails", but I doubt it will ever actually get published.

It’s great that ruby/rails grows in popularity, however books wise I am pretty sure that you still need only 2 books

Programming Ruby - 3rd Edition and Agile Web Development With Rails - 3rd edition. Everything else (except for books that talk about integration with other services liek Facebook ( great book btw)) is just unnecessary blabber and openly bad way of making money.
